**Journalists Group Condemns Government Pressure**

The Independent Journalists Association of Serbia (NUNS) and the Journalists Association of Serbia (UNS) have spoken out against a statement made by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). The SNS accused Radio Television of Serbia’s (RTS) coverage of student protests in Novi Sad as “scandalous”.

The NUNS said that RTS had finally acknowledged the events as being of great public interest and started reporting on them more fairly. But the SNS was not happy with this change and made its statement, saying RTS was taking the side of politicians who want to overthrow Serbia’s government.

**Pressure on Public Broadcaster**

Both NUNS and UNS condemned the SNS statement, calling it unacceptable pressure on the public broadcaster. The Journalists Association stated that RTS’ coverage of the Novi Sad blockade was professional but was disrupted by some protesters. They also said that the SNS’ unfounded accusations made it harder for RTS to provide fair information to the public.

**NGO Speaks Out**

The Bureau for Social Research (BIRODI) also responded, calling the SNS statement an example of ignorance and threats against journalists.
