Speaking at a press conference, Trump said: “We will be speaking, and I think we will perhaps do something that’ll be significant.” He claimed that his team wants to end the war, which started during his presidency. However, he didn’t say who in his administration is talking to Russia.
**Trump’s Relationship with Putin**
This isn’t the first time Trump has talked about ending the Ukraine conflict. He’s repeatedly said that it wouldn’t have happened if he was president. However, hostilities between Ukraine and Russian proxies escalated during his presidency, leading up to Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
**Putin Praises Trump**
Russian President Putin recently praised Trump on state television, calling him a “clever and pragmatic man” focused on US interests. Putin said that he and Trump had a business-like relationship, which allowed them to work together despite their differences.
