Two Searches Being Conducted in Georgia
A search is being carried out at the home of Nikoloz Latsabidze, a civil activist. Another search is also underway at the home of Dato Futuridze.
Nikoloz Latsabidze’s father said his son is being punished for taking part in protests. “He attends protests and that’s why he is being punished,” Mr. Latsabidze’s father stated.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said the investigation is looking into public incitement to violence, under Article 239^1, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The MIA also mentioned graffiti with the phrase “Kill a Kozi” that appeared in several places across Tbilisi, including metro stations. This is connected to the current search.
Nikoloz Latsabidze and Dato Futuridze have not been arrested yet.
