Georgian Dream Quits Council of Europe Group

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze says it was the right decision for Georgian Dream to quit the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. He made this comment after Tea Tsulukiani, a member of Georgian Dream, announced that their team would stop working in the group.

Kobakhidze said that the attitude towards Georgia needs to change before they return to the group. “In such a situation, as we see today, there is no point in working there,” he said.

The Council of Europe asked Georgia to hold new elections and release political prisoners. They also wanted Georgia to continue its path towards European integration.

Most members of the group agreed with this request. Out of 134 deputies, 114 voted yes, 13 voted against it, and 7 did not take a side.

After the vote, Georgian Dream announced that they were quitting the group. Tea Tsulukiani said that some parts of the document were unfair and without reason.
