Serbian Prime Minister Resigns After Student Assault
Serbia’s Prime Minister, Milos Vucevic, has resigned. This happened before official reports on the arrests of four young men suspected of assaulting students in Novi Sad.
Four men were arrested for the attack on January 28th. They are: D.R. (22), N.B. (22), and S.K. (30) from different cities, and N.D. (22) from Novi Sad. Photos shared online helped people identify one of the suspects, Nikola “Blagota” Blagojevic.
Photos on an Instagram account belonging to a local branch of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) show connections between the suspects and Prime Minister Vucevic’s family. Despite some photos being deleted, others remain visible. One photo shows the former prime minister’s son, Mihailo Vucevic, with one of the suspects.
A group photo from 2023 was taken during a cleanup effort after a storm in Novi Sad. The caption says the SNS is more than just a political party – it’s a team of friends and neighbors working together for their city and country. Mihailo Vucevic appears to be a prominent figure in Novi Sad, along with Mayor Milan Djuric who also resigned.
