**Ukrainian Drones Attack Russian Oil Refinery**
A Lukoil oil refinery in the Russian region of Nizhny Novgorod was hit by Ukrainian drones on January 29. According to a military intelligence source, four drones struck the refinery, causing significant damage.
The attack was part of a wave of drone strikes that targeted several Russian regions overnight. Local officials reported fires and air defense responses in the Smolensk, Tver, and Bryansk regions.
The Lukoil oil depot in Kstovo was targeted by the four drones, which all hit their target. The refinery supports the activities of Russian occupation forces and was attacked at around midnight local time.
Video footage showed flames at the facility, and governor Gleb Nikitin confirmed that air defense systems had shot down multiple drones. No injuries were reported.
The Ukrainian government considers oil refineries to be valid military targets because profits from the fossil fuel industry fund Russia’s war machine.
This is not the first time Ukraine has targeted Russian oil refineries. Earlier this week, the Ryazan Oil Refinery suspended operations due to damage from drone attacks.
