Serbian Prime Minister Quits Amid Student Protests
Outgoing Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic has made a surprising claim. He believes that the student protests in Serbia are being controlled from outside the country.
The students have been protesting for over two months. They want answers about the deaths of 15 people who were killed when a concrete awning fell at Novi Sad Railway Station. The station was renovated while Vucevic was mayor of the city.
Vucevic resigned as prime minister and spoke to reporters. He said that the best solution for Serbia must be found, not by one group or person, but by considering everyone’s views.
The protests have been causing divisions in Serbia. There have been reports of violence between students and police. Vucevic warned that more protests are likely to happen soon.
He also mentioned an attack on a political party office overnight. He expects the people who carried out the attack to be arrested. The office was vandalized, with graffiti and broken windows.
Vucevic believes that these attacks have been happening for months. They have targeted members of his own party, painting targets on their backs.
The prime minister expressed frustration that attempts to calm tensions have failed. He feels that an “invisible hand” has been creating incidents that raise tensions.
