**Opposition Officials Fined for Blocking Highway**
Seven opposition officials in Serbia were given tickets for blocking a highway on Friday. They were part of a general strike.
The officials included lawmakers from the Serbian and Vojvodina provincial parliaments, city councilors from Novi Sad, and lawyers. Most of them were taken to court by police. However, one national parliament MP was not arrested.
The opposition officials blocked the highway with a banner that read “Meet The Demands”. This refers to demands made by students who want answers about the deaths of 15 people at a train station in Novi Sad.
The students are seeking accountability for the tragedy. The opposition officials’ action is seen as a form of protest and support for the students.
