**Serbian General Strike: EU Commits to Peaceful Protests**

**Freedom of Assembly Protected**
EC spokesperson Guillaume Mercier said, “Freedom of assembly is a fundamental EU right.” He added that this freedom must be respected and exercised peacefully. The rule of law and public order are also important, he stated.
The EC encourages all stakeholders who support EU integration to contribute through dialogue and compromise. This will help Serbia progress on its path to the EU.
