**Fire at Russian Oil Refinery**

A fire has broken out at the Ryazan Oil Refinery in Russia. This happened after a large number of drones attacked several areas, according to reports on Jan. 23.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense systems shot down 49 drones in different regions, including Kursk, Bryansk, Belgorod oblasts, and occupied Crimea.

People on social media reported hearing explosions at the oil depot in Ryazan Oblast, located southeast of Moscow. At least 10 drones were reportedly shot down over the facility, which led to a fire breaking out.

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation said that the Ryazan Oil Refinery is an important part of Russia’s oil industry, despite being under sanctions. He explained that the refinery provides fuel for both civilian and military use.

This attack comes at a time when Ukraine has been targeting Russian energy infrastructure using drones. Ukraine wants to hurt Russia’s ability to fund its war effort by attacking its fossil fuel sources.
