**Georgian President Seeks US Help**
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, met with officials from the new US government. She emphasized that her country needs attention now more than ever.
Georgia is facing a crisis and President Zurabishvili called it “existential”. She told US officials that they should not recognize the current Georgian government because it no longer has any institutions.
**US Support Crucial**
The Georgian President believes that the US can help her country. She said that Georgia needs more actions than words from the US. She also expressed hope that the US would support a strong and effective foreign policy towards Georgia.
President Zurabishvili criticized the current ruling party in Georgia for trying to find alternatives to traditional American and European partners in Russia, China, and Iran. This, she said, was a big mistake.
**Russia’s Influence**
The President also spoke about Russia’s influence in Georgia. She suggested that as Georgia’s European integration had accelerated, Moscow had increased its pressure on the ruling party. She argued that the ruling party’s rhetoric towards Western friends had become more aggressive after receiving EU candidate status.
**Ruling Party’s Mistakes**
President Zurabishvili criticized the Georgian Dream ruling party for leaving the EU path and for thinking it could provoke a new movement against them, only to crush it before the end of the year. However, this did not happen, and now the protests show no signs of stopping.
**Downfall of Ruling Party**
She suggested that the regime’s downfall could take any amount of time, and in the meantime, the country could suffer from economic effects of sanctions and general isolation.
