**Yemen’s Houthi Movement Frees Crew of Cargo Ship**
The Houthi Movement in Yemen has released the crew of a cargo ship called Galaxy Leader. The crew was taken by the group in November 2023, when they started attacking ships tied to the Gaza War.
According to Al Masirah TV, a channel run by the Houthis, 25 crew members were handed over to Oman. The crew includes people from countries such as Bulgaria, Ukraine, Mexico, Romania, and the Philippines. The Houthi Supreme Council said that they made this decision in support of Gaza and the ceasefire agreements between Hamas and Israel.
**A Positive Development**
The release of the crew is a positive development for all parties involved. Arsenio Dominicuez, head of the UN’s International Maritime Organization, called it “a moment of profound relief”. He also said that it shows the power of collective diplomacy and that innocent seafarers should not become victims of wider geopolitical tensions.
**Confirmation from NYK Line**
NYK Line, the operator of Galaxy Leader, is still trying to confirm the news. However, they said that if confirmed, it would be great news for them and they are relieved that the crew can go home.
