**Ukraine Shoots Down 43 Russian Drones**
Ukrainian forces shot down 43 Russian attack drones overnight, the Air Force reported on January 19. The drones were launched from bases in Russia and targeted different areas of Ukraine.
The Russian drones included Shahed-type drones and decoy drones. Ukraine’s Air Force said it lost track of 15 decoy drones that were launched alongside the attack drones. However, this did not result in any negative effects.
The drone strikes hit several Ukrainian regions, including Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv.
**Increased Drone Attacks**
Russian drone attacks on Ukraine have been increasing in recent times. At the end of 2024, these attacks reached record levels, with Moscow planning to ramp up its production of drones in 2025. The drone strikes have targeted Ukrainian residential neighborhoods and critical energy infrastructure.
**Ukraine’s Response**
In response to the Russian drone attacks, Ukraine has stepped up its own drone attacks on Russia. These attacks have focused on targeting the country’s oil industry.
