Hungary’s PM Defends Ally After US Sanctions

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has defended his cabinet chief, Antal Rogan, after the US government imposed sanctions on him. The sanctions were due to alleged corruption and abuse of power.

Orban said that the sanctions have only strengthened Rogan’s position. He described Rogan as the “number one guardian of Hungarian national sovereignty”. Orban also expressed optimism for a good relationship with the new US administration, which he had supported in the past.

The PM faces challenges at home, including a rising opposition party and economic difficulties. He has vowed to combat what he sees as foreign networks undermining Hungary’s sovereignty. One of his main targets is Hungarian-born US financier George Soros and his liberal ideals.

Orban wants to “squeeze out” the Soros empire from Europe, starting with Hungary. This has been a goal for over a decade. He also announced plans to eliminate foreign networks that threaten Hungary’s national sovereignty.
