Former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has a message for oppressive regimes. He thinks they should be careful when comparing their opponents to Lithuanians.
Landsbergis made this comment on social media in response to a post by Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili. Papuashvili had described some protesters outside a restaurant as acting like Lithuanians. The protesters were demonstrating against a meeting of judges and had banners saying things like “Spit In Their Food”.
Landsbergis disagreed with Papuashvili’s comment. He said that oppressive regimes should be careful when comparing their opponents to Lithuanians because Lithuanians have a history of winning struggles like this one.
