**Lithuania to Send 4,500 Drones to Ukraine**
The government of Lithuania has announced that it will provide Ukraine with 4,500 drones worth 5 million euros. This move was made by Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Sakaliene on January 12.
These drones have been shown to be crucial in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. They are used for reconnaissance and attack roles at the front lines and also for long-range strikes in Russian territory.
**Delayed Delivery**
This decision comes after it was reported that thousands of drones meant for Ukraine were stuck in Lithuanian warehouses due to bureaucratic issues. The previous government had pledged to deliver 5,000 Lithuanian-made drones by fall but could not follow through with the promise.
**Faster Procedure**
To resolve this issue, Lithuania has implemented a new procedure for transferring state assets, which will allow aid to reach Ukraine faster.
**Supporting Ukraine**
Lithuania has been a strong supporter of Ukraine since the full-scale invasion. The country has pledged to provide 0.25% of its GDP in military aid to Ukraine each year. As of October 2024, Lithuania had supplied 840 million euros in security assistance to Ukraine, making it one of the leading donors in terms of GDP shares.
