German Ambassador’s Concerns
The German ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, has expressed concern about the recent attack on a journalist and cameraman by gangs of bandits. In a post on social media, he questioned why the police did not intervene when they were just a few meters away.
On February 20th, “TV Pirveli” journalists Maka Chikhladze and Giorgi Shesairuli were attacked while working on a story. Eight ambassadors visited them in the hospital to show their support.
Peter Fischer’s post said: “Attacking and harming the media and others by gangs is unacceptable. Where are you going, Georgia?” He was asking why the country was heading down this path.
