“The anti-national and anti-Georgian ‘Dream’ has decided to deliver a decisive blow to democracy and ban pro-Western opposition parties, including the political coalition ‘Lelo – Strong Georgia.’ The resistance against the Russian regime and ‘Georgian Dream’ will be uncompromising and principled,” said Irakli Kupradze, one of the leaders of “Strong Georgia – Lelo,” at a briefing held at the party office, attended by other leaders and members of the party.
Kupradze explained that “Georgian Dream’s” attempt to silence the pro-Western popular opposition voice is such a challenge that “Strong Georgia – Lelo” intends to counter with every possible means of resistance.
“Over the years, the ‘Lelo – Strong Georgia’ coalition has pursued the main and primary interest of Georgian citizens—to return the voice of the Georgian people to politics. We continue the struggle and resistance. For the Russian regime, which has the mandate to silence the pro-Western popular opposition voice in this country, including in the form of the ‘Strong Georgia’ and ‘Lelo’ coalition, this is such a challenge that we will definitely find ways to resist it. Yesterday, we filed a constitutional lawsuit against the clauses that are unconstitutional in the form of banning political parties. I stand here with my team. Across all of Georgia, representatives of ‘Lelo’ and ‘Strong Georgia’ from every municipality—we declare that the resistance against the Russian regime and ‘Georgian Dream’ will be uncompromising and principled, because there is no other way to get us out of this crisis. ‘Georgian Dream,’ Ivanishvili, and his political criminals must absolutely take responsibility for adopting anti-democratic, anti-national, and anti-European political decisions and legal acts. By standing here today and communicating with you, citizens, we pledge that this fight will not stop until victory is achieved, which the citizens of Georgia and the Georgian people deserve—this is the end of Ivanishvili’s Russian regime, and in this fight, we will use every opportunity, every strategic line of resistance that will lead us to victory,” Kupradze stated.
For reference, “Georgian Dream” is appealing to the Constitutional Court to ban 3 parties. According to Papuashvili, the constitutional lawsuit prepared by the ruling party requests the declaration as unconstitutional and banning of the following parties: “National Movement,” “Coalition for Change,” and “Strong Georgia – Lelo.”
