“At the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan, we support our Georgian partners who are suffering under the pro-Russian regime in their country,” wrote Polish European Parliament member Krzysztof Brejza on social media.
According to him, the European Union continues to firmly support democratic values in Georgia.
“In Yerevan, at the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, we support our Georgian partners who are suffering under the pro-Russian regime in their country. The European Union continues to firmly support democratic values, independent media, and all those in Georgia who, despite pressure and disinformation, continue to speak the truth. Democracy and freedom unite us—beyond borders and politics,” Brejza wrote on X.
For reference, the 12th plenary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly will be held in Yerevan from October 28-30. The Georgian Parliament’s delegation will not participate in the plenary session.
Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on European Integration, addressed a letter to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, explaining why the Georgian Parliament’s delegation refrained from participating in the 12th plenary session in Yerevan. As Makhashvili noted, the ruling team is “concerned about the actions of some European Parliament members involved in the work of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the European Parliament as a whole, whose hostile rhetoric and actions contradict the principles of partnership and mutual respect.”
