“The Georgian Dream delegation didn’t show up at Euronest in Yerevan. No surprise — when your 2024 “elections” are rigged and your legitimacy questioned across Europe, empty chairs are easier way,” said Polish European Parliamentarian Krzysztof Brejza, responding to a letter from Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on European Integration, in which he explains why the Georgian Parliament delegation refrained from participating in the 12th plenary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan.
“They call us “hostile” for standing with the Georgian people. In truth, it’s their own hostility to democracy and Europe that isolates them. I’m in Yerevan to represent the values Georgia’s citizens still believe in — freedom, truth, and a European future”, the European Parliamentarian writes.
For reference, Levan Makhachvili, Chairman of the Committee on European Integration, addressed the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly with a letter explaining why the Georgian Parliament delegation refrained from participating in the 12th plenary session in Yerevan. As Makhachvili noted, the ruling team is “concerned about the actions of some European Parliament members involved in the work of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the European Parliament as a whole, whose hostile rhetoric and actions contradict the principles of partnership and mutual respect.”
