The leader of the “Freedom Square” movement, Levan Tsutskiridze, together with his team, presented a “10-point plan for the new stage of democratic resistance.”
As Tsutskiridze noted during a briefing held at the first building of TSU, implementing these ten steps is crucial to “strengthen the resistance further.”
“The Freedom Square movement believes that our resistance against this authoritarian regime must move to a new stage. We want to present our vision of 10 concrete steps that we believe will bring us closer to final success.
First, together with our like-minded allies and fellow fighters, we will begin traveling across Georgia and various districts of Tbilisi to bring the truth to more people and promote the formation of district and civic councils.
Second, to demonstrate that we can form a real and strong alternative, by the end of the year, together with our fellow citizens and fighters, we will convene a large-scale civic assembly to discuss the next steps in the struggle and support the vision and plan for the transitional period.
Within the next 30 days, Freedom Square will present the ‘Freedom Program for Georgia,’ which will outline all the significant reforms and steps needed during the transitional period from authoritarianism to the restoration of democracy.
Also, within the next 30 days, we will present an updated national security doctrine for Georgia, which ‘Georgian Dream’ has not updated for years, despite constantly talking about peace.
We will show society our vision on national, regional, and international levels regarding how to genuinely protect peace and strengthen stability.
In the coming days, we will gradually introduce the members of the Freedom Square team, whom we believe have the ability, experience, and professionalism to take on important issues and sectors in governing the country.
Furthermore, to fulfill our promises to society and ensure that no one dares to violate the agreements made before the public, we are launching a public campaign to collect signatures in support of the ‘Lustration Law.’ This will be one of the first bills that Freedom Square will propose in the new, independent parliament.
To strengthen international support and further engage our diaspora abroad in the fight to save democracy in Georgia, we are starting work to establish a National Democracy Fund to support the struggle for democracy in Georgia.
Also, to increase international pressure on ‘Georgian Dream’ and better coordinate our joint efforts, we are offering, and have already proposed to some, our partners from various political parties, Georgia’s fifth and fourth presidents, and former diplomats, to jointly establish a Foreign Policy Council. This will facilitate the joint development and presentation of our positions and policies on the international stage.
Additionally, to strengthen our support in the fight for democracy and to further elevate the issue of Georgia on the international agenda, we have begun working with our European partners to establish a permanent, high-level international conference in the EU on the ongoing crisis in Georgia. This will regularly discuss, at the highest level, what needs to be done to save democracy in Georgia.
Finally, to emphasize transparency, publicity, and accountability, and as proof of this, every Tuesday for the next two months, we will report to the public here at TSU. We will inform them about our work, answer their questions, and present our visions.
These are the ten concrete steps we will take to further strengthen and develop our resistance,” Tsutskiridze stated.
