The October 26 elections were a defining moment for a real, tangible Georgia, – the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili says in a statement posted on the social network Facebook.
According to him, the Georgian Dream together with its “real voters” opposed not only “internal, revanchist and destructive forces, the crooked opposition imbued with the ideology of the national movement, but also their leading, external globalist forces, which have long chosen for Georgia the role of a pawn to be sacrificed on the chessboard of geopolitics.”
“Today is October 26. One year has passed since the parliamentary elections, which they declared as a referendum, as the end of our long-standing peace and development, and they intended to drag us to a neighboring war. We accepted the challenge of the referendum and offered the Georgian people the clearest picture of the current geopolitical reality, in simple and understandable language – not war, but peace.
More than 2.1 million voters went to the ballot boxes, and the choice of 54% of them was unequivocal and loud – we choose peace, we reject war. However, this unambiguous and simple answer implied a response to many choices that have become the determinants of the current political process. This choice, along with peace, was a choice of traditional values, national interests, sovereignty, independence, economic development, family, culture, faith, and future generations.
This was the content that the Georgian Dream fought to protect. It fought inside and outside the country, defending the state’s identity and its right to govern itself. 1,120,053 patriots of Georgia joined this fight, who expressed their unwavering will and determined the vector of Georgia’s future development.
The elections of October 26 were a defining moment for a real, tangible Georgia. We, together with our true voters, opposed not only the internal, revanchist and destructive forces, the crooked opposition imbued with the ideology of the national movement, but also their leading, external globalist forces, which have long written for Georgia the role of a pawn to be sacrificed on the chessboard of geopolitics.
These forces, together with their local allies, declared to us that they knew better what is best for Georgia, for its future, how to protect our future and where our place is. They denied us the wisdom and reason of a three-thousand-year-old state and pushed us to the brink of the abyss. This is precisely the distorted reality that they are stubbornly and rudely forcing upon us.
When we talked about the dangers and risks, some did not believe that such forces really existed. Skeptics in the minority supported the scattered opposition. The firmly standing majority chose the Georgian Dream and the national interests of the homeland.
The events that developed after October 26, the completely groundless declaration of fair elections as fraudulent, the artificial protest wave once again, the boycott declared by the puppet oppositionists, and the sabotage of the political process convinced the majority of the opposition voters of their mistake. The opposition parties fooled and deceived the electorate, squandered the declared trust and the mandates they received. As the subsequent process showed us, the government showed firmness and wisdom, while the enemies and traitors of the homeland took their mandates with them.
At the same time, in the past year, a novelty and unprecedented event was the completely rude, insidious, and destructive interference of certain Western countries and their diplomatic missions in the internal affairs of Georgia.
We saw how everything that was hidden was revealed and how the plan that existed in relation to Georgia was revealed. This plan was not about supporting Georgian democracy, nor about expressing the will of the people, its strengthening or further integration. This plan contained the desire to change the national government at any cost, in the event of which all forces, all agents of influence, open or hidden, all media or NGOs, useless Akatsuki or useful idiots, were to be activated simultaneously. The veil was torn off from the distorted reality and it appeared before us in its naked, exposed nature.
The real Georgia confronted the distorted forces nesting outside the country, for whom our country is a toy of their specific interests. The front line in this battle passes through our citizens. In the ongoing war for the minds of people, they are the main targets – their thoughts, ideas, beliefs and behavior. With a precisely calculated psychological attack, as is the custom of evil forces, vulnerable individuals were convinced that the national government is supposedly Russian, that war does not exist, that the loser is the winner, charity is the ruin of the country, and economic prosperity is poverty.
On October 4, 2025, local self-government elections were held in Georgia, which put an end to all speculation, lies and crookedness. In a free environment, loyal voters of Georgia, with the same abundance and spirit, came to the polling stations and expressed their own will, which has already been expressed many times. The legitimacy that we have received nine times over the past 13 years, the Georgian people have given us for the tenth time.
That is why, today, I would like to once again thank our voters, true patriots. Thanks also go to all those citizens who support the development of the country within the constitutional framework, regardless of political views, who value peace, remember the bitter lessons of history and hope for a better tomorrow.
And we will not fail in our responsibility and obligation to the country, we will not betray it, we will not turn our backs.
In the struggle between the real and the crooked, we will defend the real Georgia with all our ability, knowledge and determination, from all visible and invisible enemies, and we will correct all crookedness, injustice and oppression,” Papuashvili wrote.
