Mikheil Kavelashvili has appointed Giorgi Modebadze as a justice of the Constitutional Court. This information was disseminated by Mikheil Kavelashvili’s press office.
“Giorgi Modebadze has many years of experience working in the judicial system and also held the position of Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia.
According to Article 60 of the Constitution of Georgia, the Constitutional Court consists of 9 justices appointed for a 10-year term, of which 3 justices are appointed by the President of Georgia, 3 justices are elected by the Parliament with the majority of at least three-fifths of the full composition, and 3 justices are appointed by the Supreme Court.
For reference, the term of office of Irine Imerlishvili, a justice of the Constitutional Court of Georgia appointed by the President of Georgia in 2016, was terminated prematurely by order of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court based on her own application, effective October 20, 2025,” the statement reads.
