Giorgi Gakharia is a chronic traitor, according to Irakli Pavlenishvili, one of the leaders of the National Movement, commenting on the decision by “Gakharia – For Georgia” to end its boycott and join the 11th convocation of the Parliament.
According to Pavlenishvili’s assessment, Giorgi Gakharia, along with his team, is attempting to return to the fold of the “Georgian Dream.”
“Giorgi Gakharia is a chronic traitor who first betrayed Ivanishvili, then the protest electorate, then the opposition agreement, and then, I believe, he betrayed his last so-called opposition partner as well. Ultimately, this man, along with his so-called team, is trying to return to the ‘Georgian Dream’ fold, and whether he will succeed is another question. The protest electorate, of course, no longer considers him an opposition force,” Pavlenishvili stated.
In addition to this issue, Pavlenishvili discussed the “Georgian Dream” decision to file a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court to ban the political activities of specific individuals. According to Irakli Pavlenishvili, the matter is simple: Bidzina Ivanishvili has announced a dictatorship, and for a dictatorship to succeed, mainstream opposition parties must cease to exist.
“It’s no longer just about the National Movement. Even the so-called Prime Minister did not hide this, stating that it concerns about ten parties. Therefore, we are talking not only about restricting the electoral rights of tens or hundreds of passive individuals but, by their own calculations, restricting the electoral voice of hundreds of thousands of active people because these people have supported the political parties they intend to ban in recent years. This is an unprecedented, authoritarian, dictatorial step that will likely become a textbook example of establishing a dictatorship, when more than a million citizens will be deprived of their active electoral rights,” Pavlenishvili stated.
He noted that in such a case, their plan is to maintain communication with the people and fight until the end.
“We must maintain communication with the people and hold rallies because Ivanishvili might come out and ban breathing in this country – we are heading toward a point where critically minded people will be prohibited from breathing. They are banning blocking streets, founding opposition parties, voting for opposition parties, and if we submit to all this, then a dictatorship will be born, enabled by obedient people who remain silent. We have no intention of doing that,” Pavlenishvili declared.
