The leader of the parliamentary majority, Irakli Kirtskhalia, made this statement regarding the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.
According to him, EU leaders made no comments about the events of October 4, and “this silence speaks volumes.”
“The most important thing is the continued silence regarding the violence we have seen on the streets of the capital multiple times, especially on October 4, when there was an attempt at a coup and so-called overthrow. This silence is a very loud statement, a very loud comment, and a very loud attitude toward the encouragement we unfortunately see from today’s Brussels and EU leaders. Nothing was said about this.
As for the issue of suspending or not suspending visa liberalization, we have repeatedly told the public that this is a direct tool of blackmail in their hands. Unfortunately, the language of blackmail, not only toward our country, has become part of Brussels’ agenda today. I hope this will end very soon. I will tell them once again that Georgia and Georgian society do not yield to blackmail, and they know this very well. The last few elections have shown that we truly do not succumb to blackmail. Of course, another attempt at blackmail regarding the so-called visa liberalization suspension has failed,” Kirtskhalia stated.
