An additional meeting with Elina Valtonen is, of course, pointless – there is no sense in talking to her or exchanging arguments, as she spreads absolute lies and tries to somehow justify the criminal acts that took place on October 4, said Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Parliament, commenting on the cancellation of a planned meeting by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.
According to Gorduladze, interference in the country’s internal affairs and “the silence or declared support directed toward the events of October 4” are categorically unacceptable.
“There was a meeting with the Foreign Minister, and at the press conference following that meeting, we saw a cascade of lies coming from this specific minister. At the same time, after the meeting concluded, we saw that she attended an externally funded and organized rally and made statements that directly interfere with our country’s sovereignty. Accordingly, an additional meeting is, of course, pointless, and this is one of the diplomatic steps taken, which a dignified country’s dignified Prime Minister should take. We see that talking to this particular person and exchanging arguments is futile, for the simple reason that she spreads absolute lies and tries to somehow justify the criminal acts that took place in our country on October 4. She didn’t utter a word about this issue and, at the same time, tries to encourage new violations of the law and new crimes.
Interference in our country’s internal affairs, as well as the silence or declared support directed toward the events of October 4, is categorically unacceptable in any case. When a person holds a high position, is a Foreign Minister, and in this case represents the OSCE as a leading figure in our country, and doesn’t even mention the attempted coup or the criminal acts that the whole world witnessed, this, of course, can be seen as silence that supports the commission of crimes in our country,” Gorduladze stated.
For reference, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze canceled a planned meeting with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, who was visiting Georgia.
“Yesterday, due to her participation in an illegal rally and making false statements, the Prime Minister canceled the planned meeting with Finland’s Foreign Minister,” the Georgian government’s statement said.
As a reminder, yesterday, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, attended a rally near the Parliament and spoke with the protest participants.
