Georgia is the most innovative laboratory for suppressing freedom using new methods, said MEP Sergei Lagodinsky.
According to him, the country is now ruled by a spirit of fear.
“Georgia is the most freedom-loving, most cheerful country in post-Soviet, Eastern Europe. Sorry to speak in stereotypes, but I think that positive stereotypes are allowed.
And it hurts me to see that this country is now governed by a spirit of fear, a spirit of anti-liberalism, a spirit of attitudes that look back and not to the future.
It has always been like this, and I think it is trivial to say this, that in such situations the first target is minorities, social society and the media. And that is why Mzia [Amaglobeli] has become so symbolic. Not just because she is so brave – she is brave! What she did, how she behaved and how she behaves – is an example for all of us. But it is also symbolic for Georgia, which is the most innovative laboratory for suppressing freedom with new methods,” Lagodinsky said.
