Today’s local elections, which typically do not carry significant political weight, turned into a referendum on trust in the government, a referendum that the “Georgian Dream” won convincingly, wrote Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on the social network X.
As he noted, “We won these elections together with the people who chose peace over war.”
“Today’s local elections, which usually do not carry significant political weight, became a referendum on trust in the government, a referendum that the ‘Georgian Dream’ won convincingly.
One million people voted for ‘Georgian Dream’ across the country, including over 200,000 votes for Tbilisi Mayor Kakhi Kaladze. These numbers are a record for ‘Georgian Dream’ in the last four municipal elections, both nationwide and in Tbilisi.
We won these elections together with the people who chose peace over war, loyalty to the homeland over foreign domination, and the future over the past. I am grateful to every single voter and promise them that we will defend our nation, our faith, and our country even more resolutely.
As for the foreign-supported violence resorted to by radicals last night, I promise to write about it, and I will write a lot,” Papuashvili wrote.
