The detained organizers of the October 4 protest rally are being held at the Dighomi detention facility, and their lawyers, Beka Basilaya and Irakli Abesadze, arrived there.
According to available information, all detainees have been transferred to the Dighomi detention facility.
Irakli Abesadze, the lawyer for Irakli Nadiradze, one of the leaders of the “National Movement,” stated before entering the facility that Nadiradze’s condition is currently unknown to him, and he will review the case materials only after law enforcement authorities formally present charges to the detainees.
According to the lawyer’s assessment, “this will be yet another political case.”
“I am now meeting Irakli Nadiradze for the first time. I don’t know his condition, and of course, we don’t know the case materials, which will be provided to us by law enforcement representatives after the charges are presented. Only then will we be able to discuss more legal details. We simply have no expectations of legal details from this government. In reality, this will be yet another political case, and you will see this for yourselves,” Irakli Abesadze stated.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained leaders of the “Rustaveli Avenue” movement, Paata Burchuladze and Murtaz Zodelava, as well as “National Movement” member Irakli Nadiradze, one of the leaders of “Strategy Aghmashenebeli,” Paata Manjgaladze, and Colonel Lasha Beridze, all of whom were members of the organizational committee for the October 4 rally.
According to the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, they are charged with “inciting the violent overthrow of Georgia’s constitutional order or the toppling of the state government, as well as organizing, leading, and participating in group violence.”
The offenses carry a prison sentence of up to nine years.
