The Minister of Internal Affairs, Gela Geladze, made this statement to journalists while visiting injured police officers at Ingorokva Clinic.
He noted that two police officers remain in the medical facility, and their health condition is “relatively stable.”
“More than 30 police officers were injured during yesterday’s violent protest, some of whom were discharged with moderate injuries. Only two police officers remain in the medical facility, whose condition was quite serious yesterday. Today, their condition is relatively stable, and we hope, according to the doctors, that there will be improvement soon.
I want to thank every police officer who participated in yesterday’s protest. Proportional force was used to a very high standard. I also want the public to know that there will be the strictest response to any violation of the law. A peaceful overthrow did not take place, but I can confidently say that a peaceful dispersal did,” Gela Geladze stated.
