The place where I stand now is located in Tbilisi’s historic park, one of the oldest and most significant recreational spaces in our city, which we recently rehabilitated, and today it looks so beautiful.
This is what care, respect, and, most importantly, love for Tbilisi and its people look like.
Love is what gives this city its special charm, what has created remarkable Tbilisian stories, shown the world examples of coexistence among people of different religions, ethnicities, and cultures, turned Tbilisian relationships into a tradition, and made it possible for history to meet the future in Tbilisi’s streets, breathing an ever-youthful spirit into a centuries-old city.
But love is not just beautiful words or stories—it is daily effort, tireless work, constant care, and attention; it is renewed avenues and streets, revitalized historic districts, new parks, rehabilitated gardens and squares, modern kindergartens, new public transport, facing decades-old problems head-on and tackling them; it is the joy of improving the lives of our fellow citizens, bringing happiness to specific families; it is supporting the youth and caring for the elderly…
Yes, the love that my team and I feel for this city bears the names of specific people, streets, and neighborhoods, and the names of all the programs, projects, and reforms that have positively transformed Tbilisi.
We have much to talk about regarding Tbilisi, as over the past eight years, we have successfully navigated a challenging path, allowing us today to look you in the eyes with confidence and speak to you without hesitation.
As Tbilisi’s Mayor, I am proud of the path we have taken, which has already left a clear mark on Tbilisi. Today, as a candidate for mayor, I allow myself to speak not of vague promises but of clear action plans, which I intend to implement together with you.
The future of this city must be shaped together; it is impossible for one person, no matter who they are, to take on such a great responsibility alone.
Tbilisi vitally needs your support to continue all the programs we have started and all the projects that will ultimately overcome the challenges facing the capital.
I can sincerely say that the only political force capable of meeting these challenges is ‘Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia.’
