“I strongly condemn the politically motivated detention of Gela Khasaia, a politician from the party ‘Girchi – More Freedom,’ a member of the ‘Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe,’ in Georgia,” writes Romanian European Parliamentarian Dan Barna on the social platform X.
According to the European Parliamentarian, Gela Khasaia’s detention on fabricated charges is yet another alarming attack on the opposition by the Georgian government.
“His detention on falsified charges is another alarming attack on the opposition by the Georgian authorities. As a refugee from Russian-occupied Abkhazia, his voice against oppression is vital. We demand his immediate and unconditional release. Silencing critics will not stop Georgia’s European aspirations,” writes the European Parliamentarian.
