The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has launched an investigation into the audio recording released by Lelo.
As InterpressNews was told by the agency, the investigation was launched under Article 162 of the Criminal Code.
“All necessary investigative and procedural actions will be carried out. As part of the investigation, the person who appears in the audio recording will be questioned,” the Prosecutor’s Office told InterpressNews.
For information, the coalition Lelo – Strong Georgia is making the audio recording public, which, according to them, confirms an attempt to pressure, violence, threaten and bribe one of the coalition’s majoritarian candidates, “which is why he withdrew his candidacy.”
As the joint mayoral candidate of Lelo – Strong Georgia and the party Gakharia for Georgia, Irakli Kupradze, noted at the briefing held today, the pressure on the majoritarian candidate of Lelo – Strong Georgia in Kizilaglo was exerted with the involvement of the State Security Service and local police officers.
