Personnel changes under Ivanishvili’s regime will not bring results, whether it’s the appointment of ministers from the Shevardnadze era or local “Dream” leaders — the West does not cooperate with an autocratic government, said one of the leaders of the “United National Movement,” Levan Bezhashvili, in connection with the appointment of new ambassadors.
Levan Bezhashvili described the foreign relations of the “Georgian Dream” government as a fiasco.
“Our Western partners, not a single state, interact with Ivanishvili’s autocratic regime. Therefore, naturally, they try to take certain steps through personnel changes in some direction, but clearly none of our Western or American partners intends to cooperate with the regime. Nobody talks to them, and that is why any personnel change, whether it is the appointment of ministers from the Shevardnadze era or the placement of local ‘Dream’ leaders abroad, will not bring results. The main thing ‘Dream’ must do is fulfill what the Council of Europe and the European Union have defined: they must take concrete steps, recognize the steps of the Georgian people, recognize the sovereignty of the Georgian people — the source of power is the Georgian people — call early parliamentary elections, and ensure legality and justice in this country,” said Levan Bezhashvili.
For reference, Aleksandre Kartozia was appointed as Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany. Irakli Beraia was appointed as Georgia’s representative to NATO.
