These people have no ratings or support in society, and on October 4, the voters will give them the appropriate response, said Tbilisi Mayor Kaha Kaladze, commenting on the statement by deputy mayoral candidate Aleko Elisashvili that “after victory, the organization of a municipal service strike will begin.”
As Kaladze told the media, it is unimaginable for someone to fight for the mayoral position while wanting to halt the municipality’s operations.
“It is unimaginable that people are fighting for the mayoral position with the idea of stopping the municipality’s work. I haven’t heard anything more absurd in all my years in politics. A person wants to become mayor to stop the municipality’s operations. Can you imagine? They want to stop the rehabilitation of streets and avenues, stop supporting struggling and socially vulnerable families and individuals, which the municipality carries out through various programs. They want to stop the construction of kindergartens and the operation of public transport. It is truly gratifying that over the past 8 years, we have completely renewed public transport. Those dilapidated yellow buses that served Tbilisi’s population were a great insult. It is unimaginable when we hear such statements. It is no coincidence that these people have no ratings or support in society, and on October 4, the voters will give them the appropriate response,” Kaladze stated.
Additionally, he assessed the election promises of Tbilisi mayoral candidate Irakli Kupradze, calling him a “bully.”
“It is unimaginable that someone wants to become mayor to ruin what has been done and do nothing in the future. People hear this, and society analyzes what politicians say. That’s why they have no support or backing in society – they are ordinary bullies. I don’t even know how to assess this; words fail me, as the statements we’ve heard from them are so absurd,” Kaladze stated.
