October 4, including the elections, the rally and everything else, will pass very peacefully, the main thing is that no one thinks about violating the law – if someone does it, everyone will see the power of the new management of the law enforcement agencies. My modest advice is not to think about violating the law, – the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, told journalists about the rally announced by some opposition parties for October 4.
According to Kobakhidze, those who announced the rally want Lelo and Gakharia to get as few votes as possible.
“Ultimately, this entire radical opposition is one force, which we call the “collective National Movement.” In fact, there is no difference between them, there are only tactical differences. Regarding the elections, there are two parties that are participating in the elections, there are two parties that declare participation in the elections as treason. They also have their subjective interests, naturally. One of the goals of the National Movement and its second branch, the October 4 rally, is that they want Lelo and Gakharia to receive as few votes as possible. There are subjective interests, but in the end, everyone has one owner. Therefore, it is not surprising that no matter what differences they may have – tactical or subjective, in the end, their owner brings these parties together. Naturally, this will happen on October 4, but in any form, they have no chance of success. Naturally, there is democracy in Georgia. Everyone can gather, but everyone can gather within the framework of the law. If anyone thinks of violating the law, everyone will, of course, receive a worthy answer.
October 4 in its entirety, including the elections, the rally and everything else, will pass very peacefully. We repeat once again that the main thing is that no one thinks about violating the law – if someone does it, everyone will see the power of the new management of the law enforcement agencies. My modest advice is not to think about violating the law,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
In addition, Kobakhidze responded to the information spread by “Imedi Kviris” that the protest rallies are being financed by the University of Georgia and the former head of the Co-Investment Fund, Giorgi Bachiashvili. According to the Prime Minister, “there are no resources” for the revolution in Georgia.
“In reality, all this is financed by foreign special services, as happened in the case of the “Maidan”. You know, the special services financed the “Maidan” and you know what all this led to for Ukraine. Today, the Ukrainian state has collapsed and has gone through two wars, precisely after the revolution financed by the special services. Of course, we cannot allow this scenario to be implemented. There are no resources in Georgia to implement this scenario. Therefore, it is very important to expose all such financing, all such external interference. Naturally, a revolution by a foreign agency cannot happen in Georgia. We will not allow this, we have all the resources for this,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
In addition, Kobakhidze also responded to the appeal of former law enforcement officers to representatives of law enforcement agencies to serve Georgia and not the Georgian Dream.
“As for the rally, the process will be very peaceful, Georgia is democratic and everyone can gather, but beyond that, if someone thinks of violating the law, they will be held accountable for it. As for veteran law enforcement officers, you know how difficult the situation was in the law enforcement structure before 2012 and how many people were involved in illegal activities by representatives of the then bloody regime. Against this background, no one is surprised by the fact that several people are making such statements. If anyone breaks the law, they will face the full consequences, therefore, I do not advise anyone to make such a decision,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
As for the October 4 local government elections, Irakli Kobakhidze said that the opposition will not be able to win the mayoral or municipal elections in any of the 64 municipalities.
“The real situation is that the opposition cannot win the mayoral or municipal elections in any of the municipalities. In the previous case, they managed to win the mayoral elections in one municipality and the municipal elections in several municipalities. In this case, they will not be able to win the mayoral or municipal elections in any of the 64 municipalities,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
