The absurdity of sanctions continues, – with these words, Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Dream faction and the head of the Tbilisi election headquarters, assessed the new sanctions imposed by Great Britain.
According to Levan Machavariani, Great Britain itself has problems in its domestic politics, “insofar as freedom of speech is restricted in the country, regarding which the US President and administration also had a conversation with one of their opposition leaders.”
“They have been talking about ties with Russia for the last 13 years and they have to provide some evidence or give an example of how Russian influence has strengthened in Georgia under our conditions. They cannot physically give an example. Britain itself has very serious problems, I would like to remind you that one of the most highly rated opposition figures was in the US, met with Mr. Trump and the administration. Serious criticism is directed at Britain from the US, based on the fact that freedom of speech is being restricted and tens of thousands of people are being detained for posting statements on Facebook that support conservative values and trends. Accordingly, this is a very deplorable situation for Britain. We have seen very serious protests against migration policy, and accordingly, it is better for them to mind their own business and establish democracy in their country,” Levan Machavariani stated.
