After the October 4 elections, “Georgian Dream” will start releasing prisoners like Lukashenko, stated Paata Zakareishvili, the Kutaisi mayoral candidate for the “Gakharia for Georgia” party, on PalitraNews’ program “360 Degrees”.
According to Zakareishvili, “Georgian Dream” is now trading in people.
“After the October 4 elections, ‘Georgian Dream’ will start releasing prisoners like Lukashenko. ‘Georgian Dream’ is now trading in people, trading in their health and freedom. I express solidarity with everyone and hope they are released quickly, and we must use all resources, including the elections, to achieve the maximum dismantling of the authoritarian regime. However, when Lukashenko releases prisoners from jail, it does not indicate his weakness; it indicates his strength, and even Trump now takes him into account.
I believe, against this backdrop, ‘Georgian Dream’ will make certain concessions, not because it is weak, but because it is strong. In their view, they will clear the electoral cycle because last year there were parliamentary elections, and now there are local elections, and for the next three years, there will be no elections in Georgia as per the Constitution, so they will try to clear the field as much as possible,” Zakareishvili stated.
He also spoke about the October 4 rally.
“The boycott was declared by parties, not the people. The people have not declared a boycott. Our task is not to talk about the parties that announced the boycott; they call us traitors, but that’s laughable. I could also open my mouth and say they are the traitors, but that would be immoral and wrong. How can you call people standing on the same front line traitors? We see the necessity of dismantling the ‘Georgian Dream’ regime just as they do.
The most egregious behavior of the parties announcing the boycott is that they have scheduled the announced revolution for October 4. This is the most terrible decision from a state perspective. The revolution will not succeed, we will all see it together, October 5 will dawn, and we will see what happens—nothing will change. But what will happen is that, in addition to declaring a boycott, they will try even harder to mobilize a large portion of citizens toward Tbilisi. This is a very insidious and unconscionable decision,” Zakareishvili noted.
