 According to Levan Jobava’s lawyer, Mariam Jikia, who spoke to “Interpressnews”, the investigation against Jobava has been launched under the article on violence.
“Two independent investigations are ongoing: one initiated under the violence article, and the second regarding the weapon under Article 236, parts 3 and 4, of the Criminal Code. We were questioned regarding Article 236. We have not been summoned for questioning on the investigation started under the violence article. As for the status, my client, Levan Jobava, has no status,” Mariam Jikia stated.
If confirmed, the crime carries a penalty of up to 7 years of imprisonment,” stated the information released on September 15. However, it became known today that the minor who was detained for demonstrating a weapon to rally participants has been released. As stated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the expertise conclusion established that the seized item was not a firearm.
