The authorities are afraid of October 4, they are afraid of Levan Khabeishvili, and most importantly, they are afraid of the Georgian people, who I am sure will definitely pass judgment on the Russian regime, said Giorgi Botkoveli, a member of the “National Movement,” commenting on the information about the ban on communication from prison imposed on Levan Khabeishvili, one of the party’s leaders who is currently incarcerated.
According to Botkoveli, Khabeishvili will continue communicating from prison regardless.
“Before Levan Khabeishvili was detained, throughout this period, we saw some sneering from so-called government representatives, as if Levan was incapable of anything. But it turns out they are very afraid of all this and are afraid of October 4. It was expected that they would definitely ban Levan Khabeishvili from communicating with the outside world because, during this time, he gained significant support. People saw how active and dedicated he was. I am confident that, until he is released, he will continue in the same way even from behind prison walls,” Botkoveli stated.
According to him, the claim that Khabeishvili’s communication was banned on the grounds that he might influence witnesses from prison is absurd.
“The witnesses in the case are three employees of the SSS [State Security Service]. They came up with something absurd, claiming that they were offended by everything Levan was talking about. Therefore, of course, this is an absurd but deliberate action on their part. They are afraid of October 4, they are afraid of Levan Khabeishvili, and most importantly, they are afraid of the Georgian people, who I am sure will definitely pass judgment on the Russian regime,” said Giorgi Botkoveli.
In addition to this issue, Giorgi Botkoveli commented on the information released by the Prosecutor’s Office regarding the legalization of illicit income amounting to $624 million USD and €35 million between 2022 and 2024, for which one person has been detained on money laundering charges. According to him, this confirms that “they are people immersed in a corrupt vortex, a group, a gang, not a government.”
“The fact that money theft is linked to all their officials, both current and former, is a reality that has become very clear. Regarding the $624 million case, the Prosecutor’s Office yesterday essentially admitted that we do not have a state; we are governed by a corrupt syndicate whose goal is to steal as much money as possible. Whether the money came from Russia, was stolen, or came from ‘call centers,’ I don’t know. If they really want to show the public something, they need to provide all the details. We already knew that they were stealing not just $624 million but billions,” Botkoveli stated.
According to Botkoveli, the Georgian people must clearly see all of this, and therefore he calls on the public, saying that “on October 4, every patriot must stand on Rustaveli Avenue.”
