Tbilisi Mayor Kaka Kaladze commented on the detention of Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” stating, “These people are of no interest to anyone, so they try to remind the country’s population of themselves through crimes.”
According to Kaladze, every unlawful act will be met with an appropriate response.
“It’s clear that these people are irrelevant. They are off the agenda. Neither their daily actions nor the activities they carry out with those radicals matter to anyone. Therefore, they want to remind the country’s population of themselves through crimes. There is specific footage of law violations, and every case will be met with an appropriate response,” Kaladze stated.
For context, Elene Khoshtaria, a leader of the “Coalition for Change,” was detained. Law enforcement officers arrested her near her residence.
The reason for her detention is likely the defacement of a banner belonging to Kaka Kaladze, the “Georgian Dream” mayoral candidate, prompting the Ministry of Internal Affairs to launch a case.
Specifically, the investigation was initiated under Article 187 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to damaging or destroying property.
As a reminder, on September 14, Elene Khoshtaria wrote “Russian Dream” on a banner at Kaka Kaladze’s election headquarters. She shared a video of the act on social media, stating that it was her way of expressing solidarity with Megi Diasamidze, who was detained a few days earlier for damaging Kaka Kaladze’s election banner.
