“Nothing will be hidden that will not be revealed, there will be no question that we will not have an answer when we finish studying the case,” Public Defender Levan Ioseliani said when discussing the court verdicts issued against citizens detained during the protests.
According to Levan Ioseliani, he had a meeting with the parents of the detainees, during which he asked them to hand over the case materials and will study several of them.
“Three people, Akhobadze, Katsia and Abramov, were acquitted and released from prison, which is welcome and I responded to this with a statement. Regarding other cases, when I had a meeting with the parents of the detainees, I asked them to bring the case materials. We will study whether the case was decided based on evidence. We could not study everyone’s case because it is impossible, each case consists of several volumes, but we could study several cases. I am also interested whether the judgments delivered were based on reliable evidence. When we finish this, we will provide information to the public,” said Levan Ioseliani.
As for his relationship with opposition politicians, Levan Ioseliani states that he visited all opposition politicians in prison and was involved in all issues in which they needed assistance.
“When the opposition representatives were in prison, I went and visited them all. I helped them with whatever I could, whether it was health or other everyday problems, I got involved in many issues. When a person is in prison, a lot of things are needed. Today, for example, I signed a recommendation to take concrete steps towards the health of Nino Datashvili. Work is constantly underway towards these people,” said Levan Ioseliani.
