The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on citizens to refrain from violence, incitement of violence, and other actions that harm the pre-election environment during the ongoing election campaign.
“As is known to the public, on September 8 of this year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched an investigation under Article 126, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, regarding the confrontation that took place in Tbilisi, on Melikishvili Avenue, near the election headquarters of Kakhi Kaladze, which pertains to group violence. Investigative actions are underway.
In addition to the above, based on the statements of representatives of the ‘Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia’ party, an additional investigation has been initiated under Article 162, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to violence or the threat of violence during pre-election agitation or election campaign events.

As a reminder, there was noise and confrontation on Melikishvili Avenue near Kakha Kaladze’s election headquarters. According to the protest participants, they were physically assaulted by representatives of the youth wing of the “Georgian Dream.” During the physical confrontation, more than 10 protest participants were injured, including media representatives.
