This is a deliberate provocation with the aim of artificially creating tension, because no one cares about the 30 “Akatsuks,” their squawking, or their whining, said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, commenting on the confrontation that occurred yesterday near his election headquarters on Melikishvili Avenue.
According to Kaladze, he hopes that international organizations and even the European Union Embassy will provide an appropriate assessment of the incident.
“This was a very serious provocation, and by the way, it’s not the first time. It has become a daily routine for these people to storm in, insult, and curse. The election campaign is ongoing, and this is an election headquarters. We don’t attack anyone or go after anyone. I hope that international organizations and even the EU Embassy and its ambassador will show us respect and provide an appropriate assessment regarding this incident. It is simply unimaginable to be in an election campaign and have a few violent individuals or groups storm in, disrupt people’s work, and insult them. This is a deliberate provocation with a specific purpose – to artificially create tension because no one cares about the 30 ‘Akatsuki,’ their squawking, or their whining. This is a group of people who are violent. Accordingly, when you deliberately go and disrupt the work of an election headquarters, where numerous people are present and where an election campaign is underway, it has a purpose. The purpose is to artificially create tension,” stated Kakha Kaladze.
As a reminder, there was noise and a confrontation on Melikishvili Avenue near Kakha Kaladze’s election headquarters. According to rally participants, they were physically assaulted by representatives of the youth wing of “Georgian Dream.” During the physical confrontation, more than 10 rally participants were injured, including media representatives.
Kakha Kaladze: This is a deliberate provocation; no one cares about the 30 existing “akatsuks” and their shouting – we are not attacking anyone; I hope international organizations and the EU ambassador will honor us with their assessment
