The United National Movement condemns the so-called October 4 elections as a Russian special operation and considers participation in it a betrayal of Georgia’s interests, according to a statement by the party’s Political Council.
The party calls on the Georgian people to gather on Rustaveli Avenue on October 4 and engage in a decisive battle for Georgia.
As Levan Bezhashvili, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, stated after the conclusion of the party’s Political Council meeting, the party has affirmed its unified and firm position regarding October 4 and approved the following statement:
“The United National Movement condemns the so-called October 4 elections as a Russian special operation and considers participation in it a betrayal of Georgia’s interests. October 4 is a crucial day for the Georgian people to fight against the Russian regime of traitors and criminals. The United National Movement supports the initiative of the ‘Rustaveli Avenue’ movement to gather not at the polling stations of the Russian special operation but in Tbilisi, on Rustaveli Avenue, on October 4. We call on the Georgian people to come out to Rustaveli Avenue on October 4 and wage a decisive battle for Georgia,” Bezhashvili stated, presenting the Political Council’s decision to the public.
According to Bezhashvili, this is the party’s official position regarding October 4, and the Political Council’s decision provides a unified and resolute stance, addressing any questions that may have arisen about the party’s position up to this point.
“The United National Movement, with its political structures and activists, will engage in this process because this fight is the Georgian people’s fight. The United National Movement has always been where the Georgian people are. On October 4, we will be on Rustaveli Avenue. This is not the agenda of a single party; it is a day of people’s movement and public protest,” Bezhashvili stated.
“United National Movement”: We condemn the so-called elections, which are nothing more than a Russian special operation, and we regard participation in them as a betrayal of Georgia’s interests; We call on the Georgian people to come out on Rustaveli Avenue on October 4 and wage a decisive struggle
