The so-called investigative commission of the ‘Georgian Dream’ regime has, with its own conclusions, effectively passed a verdict on itself,” said Zaza Tavadze, one of the leaders of “Gakharia for Georgia,” during a briefing today

As Tavadze noted, the party’s leader, Giorgi Gakharia, was and remains a defender of the country’s sovereignty and Georgia’s territorial integrity, while “Georgian Dream” operates under a scenario of betrayal.
“This is nothing less than a chronicle of national betrayal—one that will, without doubt, be used against them in a free and independent court in the future. From the outset, the Tsulukiani-led commission was illegitimate and politically manufactured, created with a single aim: ostensibly to investigate alleged violations committed during the period of United National Movement rule. In reality, however, its true purpose was to politically neutralize Giorgi Gakharia and to criminalize him for serving his country. The final report mentions Giorgi Gakharia sixty times, while names such as Murusidze, Chinchaladze, and other regime enablers—who today constitute the core pillars of Georgian Dream—are absent altogether. By appearing twice before Tsulukiani’s so-called commission, Giorgi Gakharia himself directly exposed the regime’s underlying intent: the political elimination of a statesman who chose duty to country over submission to corruption. It is particularly telling that the accusations levelled by Georgian Dream mirror word-for-word the charges made by the Russian occupation regime. In truth, Giorgi Gakharia has been—and remains—a defender of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while Georgian Dream acts according to a script of betrayal. We regard this entire exercise as nothing more than another pre-election farce. The commission members, in addition to their partisanship, lacked even the basic competence to produce a conclusion that is legally coherent and substantiated. What we see once again is a regime attempting to maintain its grip on power through fabricated confrontations, violence, and the imprisonment of prisoners of conscience—all in order to cling to the wealth it has stolen from the Georgian people,” Zaza Tavadze stated.
