The Investigative Commission believes that, together with Mikheil Saakashvili and the National Movement, the non-governmental organizations named in the report, which are funded from abroad, are hindering the formation of a healthy political system in Georgia, – the Chairperson of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Parliament, Tea Tsulukiani, stated at the plenary session, where she introduced the commission’s conclusion to the majority members.
According to Tsulukiani, the Coalition for Change, Strong Georgia and Gakharia for Georgia are also hindering the formation of a healthy political system.
“Since 2012, against the backdrop of the destructive activities of Mikheil Saakashvili, the National Movement and individuals and legal entities associated with it, no healthy political system could be established in Georgia. In 2012-2025, Georgia constantly had to deal with such a challenge as multiple attempts to change the constitutional order through violence, the main perpetrators of which were the destructive opposition and foreign-funded non-governmental organizations. Because of this, since 2012, Georgia has not had a single politically calm year. The destructive political agenda has almost completely occupied the opposition political field, which has hindered or made it impossible for representatives of the younger generation to strengthen the impartial civil sector and form opposition political groups. The situation has especially worsened since February 2022, when the state had to overcome very painful processes and repel continuous attempts to drag Georgia into war. Based on the facts and information at its disposal, which are presented in detail in the conclusion, the Investigative Commission believes that, together with Mikheil Saakashvili and the National Movement, the non-governmental organizations named in the conclusion, which are financed from abroad, are obstructing the formation of a healthy political system in Georgia. Also, political unions that emerged from the depths of the National Movement, such as the Coalition for Change, the Strong Georgia and Gakharia-for Georgia, which are in full coordination with the National Movement”, – Tsulukiani stated.
