Someone might want to wrap everything up to portray that just masks and glasses were bought, but that won’t work, the reality is different – attempts to cause unrest in the country, financing extremism, financing the division of society, and confrontation – all this came from the outside precisely through these organizations, – the mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze, stated in a conversation with journalists.
According to Kaladze, “Unfortunately, there are no non-governmental organizations in Georgia; they are engaged in ordinary political activities, despite the fact that they are not called political parties.”
“Maybe someone wants to wrap all this up to portray that just masks and glasses were bought, but that won’t work, the reality is different. In general, I want to tell you that the attempt to cause unrest in the country, the financing of extremism, the financing of the division of society, the financing of confrontation, of course, all this came from the outside through these organizations. All this was wrapped up by NGOs. Everything is evident. By the way, when we were talking about all this, a lot of people were laughing, but the US President himself came out and called everything by its name. He directly spoke about how over the years, attempts to organize revolutions and coups d’état were being made through NGOs in different countries, including Georgia.
The investigation is ongoing, there are a lot of questions. Unfortunately, we don’t have NGOs in our country, they are simply wrapped up in this name and are involved in ordinary political processes. They are not called political parties, but they are engaged in political activities. The funds that entered the country were used precisely through them for Georgian politics – they were spent on Georgian politics, on television, they were used to confront society, to try to divide it, to deepen polarization, to finance extremism. This is, of course, very serious and in any country such facts would be followed by a reaction.
Let’s wait for the investigation, I don’t want to speak in a pre-confirmed form, although the hints that are being made and what we see, all this is very serious,” said Kakha Kaladze.
