According to Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, the full rehabilitation process of the Varketili metro station will be completed by the end of the year.
In response to a relevant question from journalists, the mayor stated that the metro’s operations were limited due to the nature of the works, which could not be carried out while serving passengers.
“A few days ago, we were on-site and provided explanations that the rehabilitation process should be completed by the end of the year. The metro’s operations were restricted due to the works that were carried out. Primarily, this involved reinforcing the arched ceiling in the waiting area with appropriate solutions and concrete. These works were necessary to ensure that the structure, which will be installed during the rehabilitation process, can withstand years of use. The project could not be carried out while the metro was serving passengers, so we had to temporarily halt its operations,” stated Kakha Kaladze.
