Irakli Pavlenishvili, Deputy Secretary General of the National Movement, said that the personnel changes in the Georgian Dream team are an indication of the weakening of the internal vertical of the ruling team. He responded to the nomination of Mamuka Mdinaradze to replace Anri Okhanashvili as the head of the State Security Service.
“There is no one who is following the personnel transfers that are taking place within Ivanishvili’s gang, and there is no impression that they are simply unable to straighten out the vertical, unable to organize, stabilize the regime. This, of course, is a reflection of the internal resistance that exists in Georgia and which is unwavering, including the result of international pressure and sanctions. Ultimately, we see that Ivanishvili’s gang cannot stabilize, cannot organize. These clan battles further weaken the regime and lead to the fact that even for positions that should be elected for 6 years, personnel are formally elected for a few months,” Pavlenishvili said.
For information, the former head of the State Security Service, Anri Okhanashvili, announced his resignation on August 23. On the same day, the Prime Minister nominated Mamuka Mdinaradze as his replacement.
